Planning A Trip To Seychelles

Thinking about going to the Island of Seychelles? A little bit of information would do no harm aai 🙂

Capital: Victoria
Continent: Africa(without much of the African problems, seemingly at least)
Official Languages: French, English and Creole.
Currency: Seychellois Rupee

BACKGROUND

The Republic of Seychelles is a 115-island country spanning an archipelago in the indian ocean, some 1,500 kilometers east of mainland Africa, North East of the Island of Madagascar.
Usually the country caters to honeymooners, celebrities and relatively high-end tourist. It is a good place to visit at least once in your life time, it is on my bucket list I hope its on yours too 🙂

FOOD: Like in most tourist cities, STAY AWAY from fancy hotel restaurants if you are on a budget. OR visit them once or twice through your stay. If you have money though, go all out try the fancy, try the local restaurants TRY THEM ALL. If it is not worth it you will at least not regret trying :p

TRANSPORTATION: Bikes are the best way to get around, cost $32 for a day rental. A car is anything from $150-$250 per day. A ferry schooner between Mahe and Praslin or La Digue runs for about $10 but is the slowest option. High speed catamaran rifes between Mahe and Praslin runs for $47 per person.

CRIME: RUN! RUN! RUN! Its the sound of the erm robbers lol! Really though stay away from dark alleys and don’t show off your fancy gadgets at any opportunity you get and you should be fine. Its generally a safe country have no worries 😉

TAX and TIPPING: Tips in restaurants, taxis and hotels staff are usually included in all bills as a 5-w0 per cent addition. If you are feeling magnanimous or have been wowed by the service an additional 5-10 percent will be well appreciated. Tax free shopping as with all modern countries can be enjoyed at the international airport in Victoria.

Health: A yellow fever vaccination certificate is required by all travellers arriving from infected areas. Typhoid occurs in rural areas(you have no business visiting) and Hepatitis A and B occur throughout the country.
Advice, avoid unprotected sex with locals 😉 Hepatitis is nasty like that…..

Two words Highly Recommended..
